Weather Report

Don't you wish that instead of hearing about alternate side parking when you call 311, or traffic alerts during the morning news cycle on NY1, that there was a hotline for conditions and alerts that relate just to NYC cyclists? Well this here page is attempting to do just that. Welcome to Biking News you can use, with a little help from Twitter!

NYC Bridge Conditions

We were all pretty upset during the winter months of 2009 when we rode out the door on a sunny day to find that roads were plowed clear of snow and ice but bridge crossings were not rideable. Thank you to T.A. advocates and the MTA for a brilliant bikes on subway policy for those kinds of mornings!

The nycbridegreport is our way of letting cyclists know about conditions that might prevent an otherwise excellent commute. It relies on early morning bike commuters who don't mind being the guinea pigs to get the word out.

[note: this feed is most active during snowy and icy months, but you can also expect important construction updates during the warmer months].

Sign up to the follow nycbridgereport. Let us know if you would like to chip in. Thank you to all the nycbridgereport(ers) already out there.

Bike Lane Speak Up

Community board meetings across the five boroughs are where important decisions are being made about street improvements like bike lanes and, in general, the treatment of NYC cyclists. Having cyclists speaking up at these meetings is the only way to be sure that our voices are being heard.

Follow this feed to stay up to date on community board meeting dates and show up!
