Bike Friendly Businesses are helping to encourage NYC's fastest growing form of transportation: bicycling. Why? NYC business owners know that a growth in bicycling helps support a thriving network of small businesses on a neighborhood scale. Traffic calmed streets that prioritize walking and biking and include amenities such as pedestrian plazas have proven in cities the world over to boost local retail sales by 10-25 percent. By participating in the Bike Friendly Business Campaign, NYC cyclists and business owners are working together to create and encourage safe cycling and healthy businesses.
